Confronting your mental health, accepting you need support and reaching out for help is a courageous step.
I completely understand that the first step can be daunting and we will work together at a pace that suits you.
I will spend as much time as you need explaining how I work and the methods I use.
Free Initial Consultation
The initial consultation is an important part of your therapy and the more open and honest you can be the better. I do not charge for the initial consultation, as I believe it is important that you are entirely comfortable with the therapy being offered and have every opportunity to ask questions or raise any queries, before beginning treatment.
Your initial consultation will be about us getting to know each other and I will ask you questions about your background and the emotions you’re experiencing; how they make you feel and how they are affecting your life and well-being. We will complete an assessment together which will allow an individually tailored treatment programme to be planned specifically for you.
Psychotherapeutic counselling recognises the impact of trauma, which can make us feel helpless, vulnerable or unsafe. Counselling can provide a valuable life-changing experience, resulting in improved mental health. My aim is to support every client to express their feelings, to gain a deeper insight into the issues causing distress, and to talk about these within a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space. Counselling can help us find better ways to cope with feelings and fears, and to change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
I will work collaboratively with you in order to encourage you to maximise your counselling and psychotherapeutic skills. My theoretical background is person-centered and I use the Hawkins and Shohet seven-eyed model as the basis for understanding interactions between the client, therapist and supervisor.
